18 in Quebec, Manitoba, and Alberta
19 for other provinces and territories

You'll be fine wherever you are in the country. They just want to do business with you and they won't refuse you to sell you alcohol. Just bring an ID in case. And don't bring it with you back to the USA.

While you're up here, you might as well pay a visit to a bar or something, I mean, you can't even get into a bar until you're 21 in the States right?

Really though, don't get too drunk. ;)

I am just wondering, should Canada have a legal drinking age or not? Lol my teacher assigned us to get 3 arguements for why Canada shouldn't have a legal drinking age and I can't find any reasons why Canada shouldn't have a legal age. I'm sorry if this is a bit off topic but I wanted to know cuz this topic came up and I thought, may be the ppl of Canada could help me get 3 good reasons why.

I think a legal drinking age is a good idea. I do however, beleive that 21 is too high. I've always ahd a problem with a person being able to go overseas and fight and possibly die for their country but they can not go in to a pub for a beer. 18 and 19 is a good age.

Possible argument against:

1) Once the said person does something stupid when drinking, they may or may not do it again based on experience. Pretty weak but it is one.

2) If you drink earlier, you will have more tolerance towards alcohol later in life. (I think)

3) Coming up with a blank here....

Funny thing is that Sask is one of the most alcohol consumption provinces.

18, 19, big difference.

One thing that bugs me in those American teen movies is that alcohol is so easily available. Is that true?

I'm in Florida and I'm 28 and get carded most of the time... I don't think I've been carded in Canada since I was 15-16, lol... One point on making it lower would be that if you grow up with alcohol around, like wine at the dinner table, then you won't go crazy as soon as you turn 18, 19 or 21... Like in France, I think it's 16 and most have wine at home anyways at a much younger age,

Man, being in Ottawa is like being in one of those American teen movies.... All you have to do is go to a dep in Hull, and ask for beer. Most of the time they won't card you, but if they ask, just say yeah, and they'll give you the booze.....

No, 'dumb' would be being able to legally drink while still in high school.
