Was not sure how to word this, maybe not loyalty.. How do you view yourself, do you see your province before Canada the country. or is Canada before your province?

It seems a number of posters here put there province before there country, and some even so far as to support seperation.

For me its simple, and the way it should be, Canada comes first!
This is one thing I envy about the USA, this doens't seem to be a question there.

*This is not a poll about support for Seperation.*

This is not even a question in my mind. Canada first and foremost always.

I'm a lousy nationalist. I've never claimed otherwise. I'm not sure that the US is in any better situation. Unity came at the price of freedom and the rule of law. Lincoln pretty much pulled off a military coup against the constitution. We'll see how long it lasts.

I'm for States Rights for the same reason I'm for small class size. There is a point were size is counterproductive. I favor small federal governments with people closest to the problems responsible for developing and instituting appropriate solutions. I believe in this solution for the US because it's supposed to be the law. I'm less dogmatic about imposing it on Canada but it does make sense to me.

Canada first for me. Always has been and always will be.

This petty regionalistic bullshit is what constantly hold this country back.

Agreed.

Canada IS #1 and i know I often kid about Alberta succeeding but if it ever happened... well that would be just ANOTHER reason to move to B.C.

What do you mean by, "Canada First"? I care more about things that happen in my town, or my province, than if the same thing happened somewhere else, and I can't imagine someone else wouldn't feel the same way. If it's merely an issue of seperation, then I don't think that's ever crossed my mind, or needs to.

I don't particularly appreciate anything that happens on the federal scale, which isn't anything against Canada, but moreso my preference and concern for small communities over larger ones.

There's an interesting piece on secessionism at lewrockwell (I know, it's that kind of source) that's quite interesting:[web]http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/preston1.html[/web]

Canada first... I think you asked the wrong question trev.

Question should be more like "When you are abroad and someone asks where you are from, do you tell them Canada first, or your province first?"

that might have been a better question, but Canada is pretty big geographical area... and most people i've ever met traveling know the provinces and most people have heard of Vancouver. So when i am asked that question from say someone in italy, I would answer BC, Canada.

well then my question isn't adequate either.

"Would you even include Canada in your first response?"

Would that cut the cake? So If you were to simply answer "British Columbia," it would be provincial loyalty; this vs. your actual response, "BC, Canada," Which would be Canadian Loyalty.

As admin I'm sure you can edit polls, or start a whole new one.

That doesn't make any more sense - you answer the question based on how much you believe someone knows about Canada.

I still don't know how someone could relate more to all of Canada than their own province.

Quite simple, if I was an avid separatist I'd say with pride that I am from British Columbia. I'd try to avoid acknowledging that it is a province in the country of Canada as much as possible.
