Poutine! Can't get much more Canadian than that. Ultra greasy but ultra tasty at the same time.

JuniperBreeze JuniperBreeze:
It's not a junk food, but I miss Pea Soup...and Shreddies and Caramilk. But the two best things would have to be Kraft Peanut Butter and Lays Ketchup Chips.

I love pea soup, but yellow pea not green pea.
For some reason out here in B.C its Green Pea Soup.

just like wanting clam chowder.. menu only reads clam chowder .don't tell you if its red or white unless you ask.

The pop that i actually like is ginger beer.
For junk food well KFC for me

Poutine... for me, with real curd cheese.

BTW I don't care if quebec is the capital of poutine, the best I ever tasted was just outside Halifax. It was at Pizza Time near Shearwater.

AND... On request, they can add real Donair meat on you poutine.

Anybody in Hfx should do the detour to try one.

When I used to live in Japan, there were so many minor things you could not find anywhere in the country, even in markets specializing in 'foreign' (American) food.

I always craved and could not find...

Perogies
Ranch Dressing
Decent chocolate bars (they only have Hershey stuff in Japan)
Doritos
Cdn Beer

The only Canadian stuff you could ever find was maple flavoured whatever (cookies, syrup, salmon, tea, etc) and Canadian smoked salmon.

I used to make hot wings with Frank's and Ranch dressing I brought back at Christmas. I also used to make poutine, but not being able to find curds, I had to use mozza instead.

It's funny, now that I'm back, I crave things you can only find in Japan, like onigiri (rice balls) from 7/11, curried rice (very different from Indian or Thai curry), and yakitori (the best kebabs ever).

I don't know if maple syrup is considered junk food but I assume it would.

My choice would be maple syrup, I like to give myself a little treat once and a while. PDT_Armataz_01_28

Last time I was in New Zealand asked for cream for my coffee.
Didn't think I would be considered a nut case for wanting cream in my coffee.
I thought they were nuts when they gave me a can of whipping cream...

New Zealands milk is like just from the farm...lots of cream on the top..so no one asks for cream...

K...In Auckland I couldn't get Reese Peanut butter cups...Perth however has a nice little shop that does...a bit expensive $3.50(aud)!!!

Kraft dinner, bics pickles and real cdn maple syrup all did very well at the Auckland CDN Club thanksgiving dinner last year...I remember someone paying $40(NZd) for a jar of bics, $30 for kd...

I paid $5 for a coffee crisp...I only ate bits and pieces over a month just so i could savour it...

I know i sound like an odd chick but hey when you get Canadian junk food...savour it!!!!!

Now if i could just get meself some bison jerky sent but *$*$*$* customs won't allow it in...
Bison jerky and biltong just don't taste the same.
