need some help with school work. Anyone know the main reasons why PEI joined the confederation of Canada? I only know 1 reason and that's because they needed there debt to be paid off for the railway system they built. Anyone know the other reasons? Thanks A LOT in advance. :)

Well, PEI didn't decide to join Confederation right away. In 1873 Macdonald paid out PEI's railway debts like you said, paid out the landlords who were never in PEI to free up their tenure, and provide steamship service from the mainland. I think each person got 50 dollars too. Even still they were reluctant to join.

No. First things first. Canada is a country. A great country. How we achieved this is part and parcel of our shared history.

Far to many people look at Canada as a "sum of its individual parts" rather than a "whole entity". We exist as one.

It always amazes me that seperatists like you point at Canada as a land divided and dispute the belief that all Canadians should put Canada first yet you are the first people to automatically assume everyone in quebec must think of quebec first and expect the same loyalty you won't give your own country.

Canada is a country. A great country. My country. Your country. Period.

What if we replaced Provinces with Domminions, RM's, shchool divisions , health, divisions with Provinces (Alberta's counties wouldn't change) I think we could have a better system.

She just failed to stall a very unfair transit tax on businesses, so maybe she'll be looking for another job soon.
Translink (our transit fascists) were doing things like taxing bicycle racks and drive in theaters. Not her fault that she didn't have enough votes but it sure has ticked off a number of folks here.
