does anyone think forrest gump could have been made with him being canadian and being about canadian history. and actually have people want to watch it?

i dont think it makes me unpatriotic to say this. but i would guess no. to be dead honest i dont think canadian history is that interesting. and its no wonder that it has a stereotype of being "boring"

it could be done, there just isn't the audience for it here. But there is plenty of histroy to use, it would just need to set back a few years compared to Gump

Population. The only ones who might want to watch it are Canadians. Most Americans wouldn't want to, Canadian history isn't very important compared to their own. And in all honesty, i don't canre much about American history except for when it invloves Canada. The Canadian film industry doesn't do very well in comparison to Hollywood. As a result, it is difficult for Canadian films to promote themselves within Canada and even if they can, there won't be enough potential viewers to make it profitable.

england has about 45 million people in it. thats more than canada but not by a ton. and england has plenty of movies and tv shows that are about brits and take place in england. england isn't obsessed with whether or not an english film will do well in america. so are u sure population is the reason??

It's also location, we're beside the US hence we get lots of their tv and lots of their movies. England is way on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, it aint complicated.

War is sexy. America had the Vietnam War which served as a dramatic focus in "Forrest Gump". There is no such equivalent in our history, ergo, a Canadian version of "Forrest Gump" wouldn't have the same mass-market appeal.

England may have 45 million people but the UK has close to 60 million. It's a significantly larger market than Canada and thus it is better able to sustain its own movie industry. Also, the Canadian movie market is flooded with American product, making it difficult for Canadian movies to get their foot in the door.

Explain the Québecois film industry a la "C.R.A.Z.Y.", "Jesus de Montreal", "La Grande Seduction", "Les Boys" (and however many sequels there's been), and so on!

We anglos have become so accustomed to crap like "Die Hard 46: Die Hard in Depends©" and convinced ourselves that it's crap unless it comes from the States. We're gobbling those blue pills

That's not an accurate statement. The final battle was barely shown (Battle of Yorktown), and the British did not win that, Cornwallis did in fact surrender.

Now if you are not referring to the Battle of Yorktown, but rather the battle immediately prior to that, it did in fact remain unnamed, for the very purpose of not being misinterpreted with actual historical events.

Now with all that said, it's still a movie and the purpose is to provide entertainment, not be historically accurate.
