therefore, i don't see why Canada has any need to import 250000 persons (as permanent residents) per year from foreign countries.

(this number - 250000 - doesn't include other hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers who eventually stay and unknown numbers of illegals.)

Strength in numbers mr colourful post. strength in numbers. Have you seen the size of this gadamn country and the anemic size of the population in it?? Theres a reason USA and China call the shots. Nah..MORE immigrants please. But lets cool it with 'multiculturalism'... nice idea but, Id like a bit more integration thanks.

Yes, I've seen this country, it is already developed, there is no need for further development, therefore no need for more people, unless if you want to reduce it to a developing country.

It is big, but most of it is useless land near the arctic.

Do you envy China? Even if you do, they didn't get their population through immigration though.

The Chinese Communists actually exploit their big population like slaves. Many common Chinese labourers work 16 hours a day, risking their lives in their 'mining industry', getting environment polluted so badly, burning so much fossil fuel in transporting goods across oceans to Wal Marts etc., till Arctic Ice started melting. I guess this may not be something you want.

I've got a serious solution for you that's much easier then stopping immigration to Canada. You move to a country that doesn't allow much immigration.

Seriously though, there needs to be a major overhaul in immigration to this country.

They are letting terrorists and (insert word here) in for goodness sake.

Perhaps, only from certain countries should be allowed. That alone should simplify it.

We can not stop immigration we need the hockey players. A complete stop to immigration is not practical. That being said we do need to take a good hard look at it and fix the gaps we have. We also need to help the people that are here who were doctors in their home land and are now working in convince stores. Collages could/should create programs to get them on the same pages as us.
