So yeah, I'm from the UK, and I have been strongly considering moving out to Canada, and now that I'm 18 it seems like an actual possibility.

I've seen a few posts from people asking why so many people go to Canada, and why they're let in..
I want to know if I'll be welcomed? Haha.

To be "somewhat serious" for a moment, Canada, like Britain allowed open immigration for many years. We have huge areas of cities now that have almost become ghettos of one particular “foreign” speaking, culturally different from the people around it.

For example here in the lower mainland of BC, Richmond has become notably Chinese over the past 25 years. Surrey (Where I live) has become East Indian. Abbotsford (about 30 miles east from here) is almost half East Indian. The same problem has occurred in most cities across the country. We aren’t a melting pot. We have developed enclaves of foreigners that keep their culture and language and that usually creates problems over time.

Canada can afford to bring many more immigrants in, but spreading them out a little more would probably be a good idea.

Part of the reason I want to move to Canada is to adapt the culture, and I'm always willing to learn new things - if a language is one of them, I used to study French.. To a degree, but I'm sure I could get the hang of it again.

Where would you recommend I go?

Yes, he is right. There are white ghettos in almost every major Canadian city, but Richmond's are the worst...white people afraid of the new folks, white people to afraid to come out of their communities and cross their streets to meet their new neighbours.

And what happens is when the few of those white people who are bad steal or get drunk and disorderly or tie up, photograph, rape and murder other people...well the new people get a bad impression of ALL of the white people and dont want to bother with them either.

Not to say I can blame them, it is just human nature to want to be in a community with people like yourself - paces where it is safe and people understand you and oyur language, customs, cultures and traditions. If I was white I wouldn't come out of my house to meet the new people either!

Well put. Most Canadians don't object to qualified immigrants. What they do object to is these immigrants setting themselves up in ghetto's, refusing to participate in Canada's culture and then demanding that all other Canadians change their beliefs and customs to suit them.

Nobody in Canada is demanding that immigrants give up their cultural heritage, but what we should be demanding is that they become as diversified as the country that accepted them.
