I don't really find this at all suprising considering the countries involved. France wants to lead the mission, UK wants to lead the mission but the countries involved are bickering against that and with the U.S. not wanting to take part Canada is a neutral solution for both countries.

What's rather funny though is that we lost the bid for the UN seat but leading a UN backed mission. Anyways, HooEH.

Think about it. France is not at all integrated into NATO's command and control structure, they don't work with the RAF on even a basic level.

No wonder the Brits are a tad wary.
