The above link should be of use to know where to send a care package.

http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/community/ ... ndex_e.asp

This link can put you into direct contact with Canadian soldiers overseas to get an idea of some sort of wish list.

http://www.anysoldier.com

Though a link for American forces overseas, this might aid your search for any general needs for most soldiers overseas.

Things that are nice to get overseas:

Hockey News
Maxim/Stuff/Mens Health mags ect
Gum/Licorice
Jiffy Pop Popcorn
Cereal
Beef Jerky
SunFlower Seeds
Chewing Tobacco

I always enjoyed letters sent over from kids. The stuff they ask and talk about really makes you smile. I received a letter from a young lad in Calgary when I was in Kosovo, I wrote him a note back and next thing I know I had 25 letters, 1 from each kid in his class and his teacher!

To add to the list:

M&M's
Smarties
Gummi Bears like things
Gatorade powders
Videos of various sports events
Kraft Dinner
Handi-wipes

Oddly enough, the troops loved it when they got movies from back in the day. I've seen Resevoir Dogs become a daily played favorite (when a VCR and TV were present), The Crush with Alicia Silverstone, Two lane Black top, Vanishing Point to name others. No rhyme or reason but they're likely to be movies not thought of by the Welfare Section. One of the all time favorites was my brother-in-laws videos of a couple NHRA races. Get the Mess Section to lay on a BBQ type meal, allocate your Beer Ration, sit back and turn up the volume REAL LOUD and watch the locals run for cover! PDT_Armataz_01_14

why do so verry few in canada support canadain troops in the feild? It seems that most could care more that canadain boys and gals are putting it on the line in a land so far away How many of them wish to be there, not many I am sure , but they are there, because our goverment sent them . So every one who votes liberial here is some what resposable in sending them, but it appears that few even care.

Too bad , to myself somewhat shamefull, it must be the canadian way.

wether a peace lover or a warmonger , we as a people sent the troops, we as a people should support the troops, i doubt a dollar post card and a fifty two cent stamp will break anyone's budget

makes me not so proud to be a canuck

Lots do, they just aren't very public in advertising their support. The troops see it when it happens, and appreciate every little bit. Just keep telling two friends and they'll tell two friends...

A lot of the countries we get sent to Porn is frowned on, and our powers to be often have the same attitude, though it is appreciated and as long as you keep it on the "low down" no big deal.

Its unfortunately largely due to lack of information available through media. Media tends to spur interest & our media simply doesn't focus on what our troops are doing anywhere near as much as the US media focuses on their troops for example.

Lately I've found that almost any American who has knowledge of military in general, will be one of the first to jump to defend the capabilitys of our military. Sad, but true... for quite a while my best source of information regarding up to date & current publicized news on what Canada's government in general was up to, (as well as a decent deal of info on our troops) was the website of the Canadian > US Embassy.

Its a great idea though & thank you Wannabe for those links!

My sister sent tons of Hustler mags to me, her husband is in the military so she always knew what to put in my care packages.

A few more good ones to add is:

smoked oysters
smoked mussles
tabasco sauce
pictures of friends and family
salsa
Just look around the grocery store and you will find lots of good things to send

Bring any parcel you have to the Military Family Resource Centre and they will send it for free. Some MFRC's will inspect contents to make sure that you are not sending things that should not be in the mail, such as lighters, matches, any thing dangerous.

Where I go to school they have a ....military 'thing' next door...

Anybody have any idea where I could go to send a 'general care package' overseas even if I don't have anybody in particular I am sending it to?
