As is usual, this is all unconfirmed scuttlebutt and chatter although you can probably source much of it out there somewhere.

In no particular order:

* The destroyer USS Carney paid a visit to Odessa, Ukraine in January. In a total coincidence it escorted a Maersk cargo ship from the Bosporous to Odessa and when the Russians tried to stop the Maersk ship for a 'safety inspection' the Maersk ship raised a US flag and referred the Russian gunships to the Carney.

* In another total coincidence the Maersk ship delivered some 100,000 M4WAC47 assault rifles to Ukraine. The M4WAC47 is essentially an M4 that fits 7.62mm Ukrainian ammo.

* In the same delivery Ukraine also received 210 Javelin anti-tank missiles and 35 command launcher units (CLU) to further irritate the Russians.

* There are now approximately 240 American advisors in Ukraine.

* Congo is about to become the next major humanitarian crisis. 13 million people have been displaced by the ongoing civil war and the war is expected to spread as President Kabila continues to work to make himself a dictator.

* Sudan signed a lease with Turkey that allows the Turks to reoccupy their Ottoman-era naval base on Suakin Island in the Red Sea. Egypt and Saudi Arabia are opposed to the deal for the obvious reason that Turkey has no legitimate interests in the area aside from trying to restart the Ottoman Empire.

* China and Russia both opposed a UN plan to sanction Burma over the Rohingya. Initially both countries had signaled support for the measure but then in Burma's Shan State the Rohingya attacked a Chinese oil pipeline project site killing several Chinese engineers and at least two Russian citizens.

* The Chinese Navy is on track to have a fleet of 260 ships by 2030 and it will eclipse the US Navy as the world's largest navy unless the US steps up naval construction.

* Foreign journalists in South Sudan are being threatened by the government for reporting on human rights violations and the South Sudanese government is also trying to remove international aid organizations that also report on a growing number of unspecified atrocities.

* Egypt and Sudan are increasing tensions over an area called the Halayeb Triangle that Egypt has occupied since 1958. The area is home to an important water source.

* Cuban special forces troops are being observed supporting the Assad regime in Syria.

* North Korea's missile that crashed in Tokchon in April 2016 has been determined to have had a carbon fiber body as opposed to a metal body. This is a significant development for the Norks.

* The UK released details of the extent of the slaughter that took place in the aftermath of the Tianenmen Square protests in 1989. Approximately 10,000 people died at the hands of mostly rural and illiterate troops who were given orders to kill all of the protesters. The military units also engaged and slaughtered local police, fire, and medical first responders who were present at the site. No one was spared.

* China's new attack helicopter, the Harbin Z-19, is being deployed later this year. It's being promoted as a tank killer but the naval variant will focus on ASW.

That is pretty significant. Firstly - where do they get the petroleum? Carbon fiber starts out as plastic, and the resins heavily rely on oil products. With their oil imports restricted, and let's face it, pirating can't be all that significant - where are they getting the raw materials? Or, from whom?

Secondly, it would give their missiles a bit of a longer range too, being stronger and lighter than steel or aluminum.

Russia is probably the source of the Nork missile tech.

I figured Iran. Same as their Nuclear tech, and it has plenty of oil. Could be Russia too, it's closer.

I wonder how many containers that fills up, and what's in the other ~ 10,000. :P

I suspect that what got leaked here is just a small part of the ordnance that was delivered to Ukraine.

The reason they needed the delivery is because the fucking Russians have been blowing up Ukraine's arms factories and ammo dumps.

The M4WAC47 is one sweet looking rifle.
