The Invincible carriers might make good UAV carriers, but as a real carrier, their decks are too short to allow non-STOL planes to fly off them.
Besides, given our history of getting used military goods from the UK, I'd be very hesitant to go down that road again. If our government decides we need a carrier or two, it'd be better to build them ourselves, along with the JSS, new DDHs, FFHs, and so on. Why not rejuvenate our own shipbuilding industry instead of giving someone else money?
Exactly, during WW2 our country produced over 4,000 naval vessels. The majority being corvettes mind you but still, we'd be better off than buying surplus British junk...again! Plus, it's a double end deal. We save money NOT buying naval vessels from other countries, and we increase employment and thusly help improve our economy and our defenses.
We could even build some those cheap, "expendable" ships for the US to replace their expensive carriers. Or sell them to other solid, allied nations.
And then there's commercial ships to be built as well. Might as well take a bite out of that market while we're building ships again.
