A few days ago, the Japanese government announced that it has selected the F-35 JSF as the winner of it's FX fighter competition over the other two contenders; F/A-18 Super Hornet, Eurofighter Typhoon. The aim of the FX competition was to find a replacement for the aged F-4EJ Phantoms currently in service.
