My wife and I decided to brave the downtown parking, and attend the big Joint Veterans Association ceremony at the Winnipeg Convention Centre instead of the small one up the road. It was absolutely amazing to see that many people there. I don't think I've ever been to an event there with so many people.

Thanks to all the veterans, especially the ones here. I'll probably never be able to fully appreciate the debt that's owed to you. You've really helped me to understand, and I'm sorry if I've called you names at times, or have shown disrespect.

As I stood there, at the foot of my Fathers grave;
the sun shining brightly in my eyes;
I didn't look away;
though I may have squinted;
Rather, feeling the warmth of the sunshine upon me;
or was it only the sunshine which warmed me on this cool November morn;
That I could stand here in freedom and peace;
all alone, but not;

Thank You, Dad. And all of our Veterans and serving members. Thank-you.

Good weather for the ceremony. Troops were well turned out. The 80+ yr old Highlander still playing the pipes, the lady who sang "Oh Canada" was fantastic. It was good to have a few of our gallant Allies present too.

moment of silence to thank my grandpa (and every other serviceman who died or served) for his sacrifice in March of 1945 over the Indian Ocean.

I was at work, in full WWII kit greeting people and answering questions to the best of my abilities.
