I know what you're going through.

My son is at Valcartier too and was in the vehicle when Maj. Yannick Pépin was killed. Good thing he was the one who called me that day before I found out what had happened in the news.

Glad your son is coming back safe and sound.

Congrats. A friend of mine is deploying for his third tour in November. Two were done in Khandahar and his third will be in Kabul. He's a little safer though because he's a doctor with the armed forces....mind you he'll be at the same hospital that was attacked recently.

Perhaps the thread title should be "Boys & Girls" as my cousin served over there with her husband for a tour.... she refused to go back a second time.

And not to poop in your cornflakes, but it won't be "Once and for all" as our troops will most likely be re-deployed elsewhere in the world sometime down the road.... not to mention Harper has agreed to keeping a number of our troops there for other operations.... which involves rotations over time, which means some people's sons & daughters may return.

It's good to hear that you know when your son/daughter will be returning home, but I'd hate for you to get blind-sided with the off-chance that they might still be sent back there or somewhere else in the world later on.

Yeah, doctors and nurses to help in the hospitals, troops to train the military and police, engineers to help repair infrastructure damaged and administrators to help provide aid and government services. Isn't stuff like this supposed to be what makes Canada great to other nations?
