Such a big part of the music experience is how do we listen to it, so I thought I'd see what kinda headphone people use to to listen to their music.

I use Ultrasone HIFI-2200 ULE headphones. I'm still burning them in, but they have sweet bass, and sound awesome.

Wireless. RCA WHP141. I did notice that there was some drop in performance between my wired ones but the wireless convenience more than makes up for it.

I listen to my MP3 player with Sony Stereo Headphones. The MDR-XD200

With a huge f'n cord about 10 feet long.

Hard to wear these in public without looking like I belong on a special needs bus,

Don't comment on that, assholes, ;)

If you don't want to look like you're trying to contact the mothership while you're waiting for the bus you could look at the V-moda vibe.

Best headphones around as far as I'm concerned

I've got Grado Labs SR60 headphones:

They don't look like much, but they sound awesome. I don't wear them on the bus because there's no point - there's so much background noise on the bus you can't get the full effect of good headphones. On the bus I use these:

Panasonic RP-HT65S. They're cheap as hell at just $20, but they have good highs and lows (I've never been satisfied with the lows from earbuds), I don't look like a douche wearing them in public, and I don't care if they get lost. The only downside to them is a few years ago Panasonic decided it would be a GREAT idea to jam a volume control in the middle of the cord. I have a volume control on my player already so it's redundant and annoying, and it's a break in the actual cable so if the cable snags on something, it snaps there.

When listening to music on my IPod or BlackBerry I use ScullCandy ear buds. With my desk top I use some cheap Logitech head set with mic.
