I'd go with Sad But True from their original stuff, but overall I like the cover version of Tuesday's Gone best, followed up by Whiskey In The Jar. The Memory Remains is also up ther for me.

I would have to say Enter Sandman or Unforgiven (Orchestral)

Breadfan, Disposable Heroes or Creeping Death. Used to play all those in my old band--along with Sanitarium, Four Horsemen, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Shortest Straw. Man, I love playing Metallica.
Whiskey in the Jar might be the worst cover ever though.
You probably thought this was going to be clever, didn't you?

Metallica's old stuff is great, but to me, the best Metallica song - maybe the best heavy metal song - is For Whom the Bell Tolls
I love this song as much as I did when I first heard it over 20 years ago.
This is Anfield.
