I'm gonna plug this guy: www.robhudec.com

He's a kick arse blues guitarist, always has great, great tone. Jammed with him once, probably learned more in that hour or two than I had messing around with my guitar for the entire year before.

Anyway, if you've got a function in AB or SK that calls for a blues, rock and even a little bit of country type band, consider them. 'Specially if you appreciate exceptional guitar playing.

This is the press announcement for an event I am working on here in Ottawa

Ottawa Blues Society pays tribute to the
“New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival”
for a third year with “NOLA North III”

The Ottawa Blues Society is pleased to announce the date of their first OBS event for 2006. This event will take place at Tucson’s -2440 Bank Street- @ Hunt Club on Saturday, May 6.

“New Orleans Louisiana North III” (“NOLA North III”) will commence with an afternoon all ages “Cajun Front Porch Jam” from 1 to 4pm. This will be a Louisiana style jam session with a number of local guest performances. The second part of the event will start at 6:30 pm. with Louisiana & Mississippi delta inspired music from Ottawa’s own “Myers Brothers” & “Zydeco Loco”. Tucson’s regular menu will be expanded to include some fine examples of New Orleans-style food & drink.

This event “NOLA NORTH III” will pay tribute to the 36th Annual “New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival” which will take place the same weekend in “The Big Easy”. We will do this by celebrating the traditions & culture of the region. We hope to recreate the flavors of the event in “Nawlins style” with traditional entertainment, dance & cuisine.

The OBS will be using proceeds from money raised for “Gimme Five!” an organization dedicated to help the needs of New Orleans’ musicians by aiding in continued recovery from Katrina’s flooding.

Ticket prices will be as follows:

Afternoon all ages Cajun Front Porch Jam:
$2 per person or $5 for a family, money raised donated to “Gimme Five!”

Evening entertainment:
$15 at the door for the general public or $12 for OBS Members

There will be fun & door prizes throughout the day & evening. The OBS will set up a table to recruit new members. OBS merchandise, and CDs will also be available for sale.

Save yourself the trip south. Come out to “Tucson’s” with the family. Help celebrate the flavors of the “New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival”.

For further information, contact:
Tucson’s: (613) 738- 7596 or http://www.tucsonsblues.com/
Or visit the OBS website: http://www.ottawabluessociety.com/

I have just listened to a couple of copies of new CDs.

Charlie Musselwhite's "Delta Hardware" is a good one.
http://www.charliemusselwhite.com/

Sue Foley's New Used Car in short is brilliant.
http://www.suefoley.com/

I know this is far from a review. I have only played them once. I will play a track or two on CKA Radio next time I am on.

I will be playing blues tunes on CKA Radio soon. I have two more shifts left in my "Tulip Fest" contract. I will be able to do two weeks worth of shows before I start the next festival contract.

He is a younger cool funky version with just as much attitude. Great stage presence! Too many pics to show, but here is a few.
