Thanx for the bump kitty! I do want this to stay high on the grid as time is short to get the word out.

BTW is this a hint there might be some blues on the next KKT?

Bumpin' the thread as a reminder to get a letter of to the CRTC to be received before Nov. 6.

Get a letter in to the CRTC for a Blues Music station in these markets.

Abbotsford/Chilliwack
Kawartha Lakes/Peterborough
Ottawa/Gatineau
Vancover

And get the word out to your buds. It would be great to have an other alternative to formated Top 40, Classic Rock and Country.

Lets get some Blues on the air in Canada. We have so many talented blues artists that deserve to be heard. Stations covering other programing can or will not find the room to program this genre.

Please get your letters out to be received before the deadline of Nov 6.

Here is the link again. http://www.bluesincanada.com/

The Ottawa Blues Society is again hosting the Blues Challenge event, On the Road to Memphis. The winner of the event will move on to compete at the International Blues Competition in Memphis. Some of you might have heard me post about this time last year.

The band that won last year's event was MonkeyJunk. they went on to place third in a competition with over one hundred bands.

Here is the poster I have made for complete info on where and when.

R2M 2009 Update

The Second Round of semi-finals was last night. Advancing to the Finals this Friday night will be....

The Drew Nelson Band
&
Phlegm (yes that's the bands name)

A great performance was put forward by Rocket Rached and the Fat City 8 and Wicked Grin. Not to forget Sweet and the Backbeat from round one.

I will have more soon along with Pics from the event. So on to Friday night. Should be an *interesting* final with a very different shade of Blues from each band.

Order yet to be determined:

From Semi#1 Jesse Greene Band & Mumbo Jumbo Voodoo Combo
From Semi#2 Drew Nelson Band & Phlegm

Final of the OBS R2M 2009

The Ottawa Blues Society Road to Memphis Completion final was a fantastic success for the second year. We had a packed house at Tucson's once again. We even had people on the patio on a chilly night waiting to get in. As this event gets bigger and bigger I think it will become a major spring board for Ottawa's Blues talent.

This year to represent Ottawa and the OBS will be The Jessie Green Band. I am sure like last year they will have people down there buzzing about Ottawa's offering to the completion just as MonkeyJunk did last year.

Well I for one love the blues.
Can't say I know the bands but they may show up at the Montreal blues festival next year.

So carry-on, BluesBud. :)
