Indeed. I do like punk music and don't mind Sum41 but there is no way they can be called Canada best band. There are so many older bands that have proven themeselfs great. The Hip being one of them.

All The new bands are doing great like SUM 41, Swollen Members. I say its all about the New Music. The Hip is a good canadian band, but the new music is what will lead the future.

I'm a little worried about the future of the Hip. Their last few albums have been a little weak, and Gord went off on his own to make a couple of odd albums. I'm guessing this appeals to some people, but usually Hip fans are more "rock and roll" than poetry readings. Who knows, maybe they're just screwing with us and next year they'll put out an album that makes Fully Completely sound like soft rock.

Currently - I Mother Earth and/or the Tea Party - both bands are extremely talented..
Historically - the Hip, Rush, the Guess Who, Neil Young.

The Carleton Showband. Just kidding.
I'm going to have to go with Luther Wright and the Wrongs on this one. Next month I'll be onto something else.

Skinny Puppy no doubt. Skinny Puppy influenced a whole genra and wasn't just a cheesey little rip off band like Sum 41. Skinny Puppy's sound is like no other and they are probably the most creative band I know of that has come out of Canada. Every other band I think of that comes from Canada I can compare to an American band EXCEPT Skinny Puppy. American bands rip Skinny Puppy of(Marilyn Manson, NIN).
