just to elaborate on Probot, its Dave Grohl's metal band, pretty wicked. They just rotate singers, like my favorite song Shake Your Blood features Lemmy from Motorhead fronting.

I'll add three more suggestions this go - a favorite indie label metal band called "Acid Bath" very nice slow metal, "Darkane" has wowed me with some very addictive guitar riffs, and the lady fronted death metal growl fest known as "Arch Enemy" they might be popular enough as it is but they complete the list nicely.

I've thought of one more band I like that you don't hear much about these days.

Ben Folds- His last album (Songs for Silverman) was easily the best CD I bought in the last year and a half.

For sure... all his stuff, and his band's older stuff, is amazing... funny you should mention him now - I've been listening to all his albums recently, and just got finished watching his concert with the WASO.

Amazing, refreshing, and entertaining musician. R=UP

Here's a really obscure one... I guess they recorded this in their basement, but it's amazingly professional.

It's a rock band called "The Original Plan" and I got a link to their EP in the process of downloading some Guster stuff (another goodie).

torrent

I'll keep the torrent active just for you guys :D

(it's in .ogg format, just so you know)

Clutch is an awesome band, been listenening to them them for a while. Lacuna coil is also wicked. Strapping young lad is another good band. The singer from kyuss actually is the singer in queens of the stoneage.

But as for my three:

Throwdown
Trivium
The aquabats
Meshuggah
lamb of god
in flames
the hurt process
Devin townsend band(he is the singer for strapping young lad)
demon hunter
atreyu
as i lay dying
cryptic wintermoon
