Well I was just thinking that probably a lot of you guys are listening to some "obscure" and "unknown" bands that you would glady share with us ( or with me at least ) ? And since I am a big fan of music, I would be please if some of you would introduce me to new musical experiences...

PS: excluding country, it's not music ;)

Well here are my three obscure bands:

First band I would like to tell you about is Clutch, from United States, a good hard rock band. I saw them 3 years ago with system of a down in Montreal, very nice band. May not be for everyone tough.

Second one is Guano Apes

Another good rock band, from germany I think, but they sing in English.

And the third one is one of my favorite,Lacuna Coil, they come from Italy and have a strange hallow gothic song.

Their singer looks great btw.

Final Fantasy- A "one man band" named Owen Pallet, amazing an beautiful.

Trisha Foster- French Canadian singer. Sings in both French and English, her music is very haunting at times.

Ani Defranko- This girl is great, if not a little eccentric. Whenever she talks, she sounds drunk, since she is prone to ramble. But her lyrics are great, and her sound is good.

"Death be not proud, though some have called thee mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so. One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more, death thou shalt die."

Nightwish, Cristy Moore(well known in some folk circles) there is this one taiwanese singer/band called Shino. Unlike most of the bubblegum bullshit here (pretty, verging on anorexic girl weeping in the rain as she sings about her androgynous looking boyfriend leaving her) she has a set of pipes and more of a bluesey rock sound.

Thx guys,

I already knew some, like Nightwish, wich is pretty good and Mindlesselfindulgence wich reminds me a lot Nine Inch Nails.

As for Demons and Wizards, I tought It was Iced Earth and BLind Guardian, anyway they rock.

Soul Coughing! Jeez, it's been awhile.... Buddha Rhubard Butter

Only three eh? Well, hard to say how obscure you're talking about... I'm going with a Canadian theme today:

Patrick Watson - Amazing artist from Quebec. His album Waterproof9 (based on art by Brigette Henry) is very avant-guard jazz, if there's such a thing anymore. Great piano player - very surreal sound. I sent him a letter asking how I could get a copy of his album here in NS, and he sent me a free copy.

Simon Fisk Trio - Awesome jazz ensemble from BC... I also had to have this one sent to me directly from him. The album is called Trainwrecks.

Jill Barber - yound folk artist from Nova Scotia (this album's a little easier for me to get ahold of). Very nice sound, and she's been doing very well.

Well of course I'll plug my own obscurity.. :)
www.seph.ca

Pilfa Confession Box,
Ween (Been around a while, one of my faves, but so many
peeps seem unclued about the brothers Ween),
and
Thunderhawk (my childhood buddy from T-dot, Jay McBride's wicked band.

Good idea for a thread Damien.

For me I'd go with:

Nightwish - Metal band from Finland
Thirteen Senses - Coldplay-like band from England
Wolfparade - great band from Montreal

Well, I checked out this "nightwish" band since several of you mentioned it (can't be that obscure); downloaded the "Greatest Hits" album, so I figured I'd get a good impression of them.

They sound like a mix between Dream Theatre and crap [boxing]
