That's a good point. Why has the Chinese government been so "apprehensive" of those who question it. When your leaders are un-elected, what right does it give them to dictate your way of life? What right does it give them to legislate rules? Who has given them that right?

Tibetan song "Heaven Road"(have english subtitles)

Song about the Qingzang Railway, sung by Basang.

The Qingzang Railway, also known as the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, is a high altitude railroad connecting Xining with Lhasa. The 4 billion USD project is part of the larger Western China Development Program. The line was completed in 2005 and will boost Tibet's economy and tourism.

If i remember right, that railway is also responsible for bringing many
many many Chinese immigrants INTO Tibet, thus slowly but surely
changing the population demographics in that region.

sounds a bit like liebensraum.....

who said SARS is a BIO weapon?

I thought it was you. Didn't you start a thread saying that many people in HK believe that SARS was a CIA weapon or experiment and asked what we thought about it?

Never the less.. Here in Canada where we live, we might not like the French Canadians ( :D ) but we respected them enough to let them have a referendom and voice their opinions. Sounds like Tibetans who do that get sent to prison camps or to the organ doner ward at the hospital.

Hell, even those poor folks who were asking why the public schools all fell down but the government buildings didn't were censored. The Chinese government is very afraid of the opinions of it's people, isn't it?

officially, no :)
if you define democracy by the will of the majority, US elections
are not democratic. re 2000 Gore got more votes than Bush.

The system in the US actually provides that a vote from California is worth
more than from Maine or Alaska, based on the number of votes sent to the electoral
college.. as such, its not really democratic.

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

our "first past the post" system is more democratic whens it comes to electing
regional representatives.

but if you want to compare the US system to a one party, you must vote system
like China or Russia, it is far more 'democratic'

and free

and fair

and not rigged :)
