officially, no

if you define democracy by the will of the majority, US elections
are not democratic. re 2000 Gore got more votes than Bush.
The system in the US actually provides that a vote from California is worth
more than from Maine or Alaska, based on the number of votes sent to the electoral
college.. as such, its not really democratic.

our "first past the post" system is more democratic whens it comes to electing
regional representatives.
but if you want to compare the US system to a one party, you must vote system
like China or Russia, it is far more 'democratic'
and free
and fair
and not rigged
