Something Manitoba ran into when we were studying the doctor shortage is that the medical association kept putting up roadblocks. The doctor shortage actually serves them well because it puts upward pressure on wages.

I asked my doctor about the shortage and immigrant doctors a while ago. He's a draft-dodger from Tennessee who did his training here. He said that it's ridiculous, that we should be fast-tracking doctors who are qualified and sending them to remote communities first, rural facilities second, then filling in the cities.

i wonder how difficult the language exams are. Most of these educated people have better english skills than the rest of us.
