Bob Rae is being reformed

I wrote a book on the current social and political landscape in Canada which hasn’t been published yet. In my book I go over how communication is key to renewing Parliament, that there is a national agenda apparent on the streets of Canada and there is a police scandal over this that would make Adscam look pedestrian. I wrote to Bob Rae suggesting he needs to read my book and he writes back to me that he will. There is some diplomatic code in his letter to me which suggests he has already been briefed in all of this. Most significantly it indicates that he has been been worked on in Ottawa to become more savvy about diplomatic communication, which is the element missing from Ottawa for some time now. You can’t correct your boss if he doesn’t have savvy diplomatic communication. So look for something to happen with the new Bob Rae. Some bare knuckle punch ups with the competition would reform his reputation.

Bruce

A few views, no response. This is odd as Bob Rae’s transformation could be significant.

We have a Prime Minister that has centralized control around himself, the press is calling his policy the “diktat”. Partly he had to do this because he moved the party to the centre and he had to stifle the “radicals” in the caucus, cut their tongues out. The other part is he’s a political nerd and can’t relate to his staff. He can’t communicate.

At the same time Michael Ignatieff is no better. Ignatieff is also running a one man show, does not consult his caucus particularly – witness his idea last September to try to dump Harper. Ignatieff has complained about Harper not listening to his cabinet ministers but in the event found it difficult himself. Michael Ignatieff can’t communicate either.

I learned about diplomatic communication the hard way. When I was younger I worked at Ontario Hydro head office on contract and I took a personal problem to work and they “beat me up” for doing so. They whole place went to work on me. I now know diplomatic communication. I’m not good at it but I watch out for it.

Communication is everything, it turns out. It’s the only way you can get through to an errant boss. I have been writing to Parliament on this theme as there is a communication break down there. Bob Rae has written back to me several times, I’m on his list, most recently with some polished diplomatic code. So they have worked on him while he’s been in Ottawa and he’s now emerging as thee leader with communication.

This has to be confirmed and after that it’ll take an event to get rid of Michael Ignatieff. However we are looking at a leadership vacuum in Ottawa but a contender ready to fight bare knuckles. It’s in the air.
