I've got some money running on Rae as leader. From Chretien, to Martin, to Dion to Ignatieff you've really had lemons that ran one man shows - whereas Rae has learned the lesson this is not the thing to do. So right off your talking about a better leader and stronger team. His lefty tendencies are balanced by the fact he is not a big tax and spender. People, my wife, still hate him, but he may be the only balanced leader on the national scene at this time. He has two aces as well, the jobs issue is not being addressed by the Harper government adequately and there's some illegal protesting of this around the Harper government has suppressed. Rae has the ability to drop Harper with a knee to the goillies - the other Liberals are probably a little in the dark about how to do it. For a really good punch up on the Hill, my money is on Rae.

No, no, it's the illegal activities that I'm betting on. There has been some leaking of what is going on in business to the street as a political protest for years. Harper should have looked into it a long time ago. Instead he ran a tight ship, missed what is going on below decks and has created a legal quagmire.

Rae would ensure the death of the Liberals.

I think it would be a great idea to make him their leader. The Libs would look good reduced to a couple of seats.

Rae is the logical interim choice - irrespective of baggage. In fact, were it not for all that baggage, he might be a way ahead for the party. The problem is, he tends towards left of centre and is therefore a shade of orange. Truly, I think they need to find a leader and a platform that is truly centrist with tendencies towards left for some social policies and right towards defence and foreign policy.

Education and health care left leaning...everything else to the right. Compassionate Conservatism.

Is Rae really even a Liberal? If he had truly been a centrist, he'd have ran for the Ontario Liberals and not the NDP....he like most politicians is an opportunist first. he'll take whatever path gets him into power and into the public trough the fastest.

Working from memory, and this is going back a bit, I can recall Premier Rae saying that "there is no more room for taxes" despite the deficit. The guy has always been pretty much a centrist. The mature Rae should be more like a Tony Blair, Bill Clinton or Jean Chretien. I've discussed this with political groups and they say it's still in his soul to launch a big program, particularly a carbon tax, and that is what the cost for him would be. Otherwise he's the senior candidate available. The other gas bags available would be worse.

Rae a centrist Bruce? Really? Were you in Ontario when those clowns led by him were in? It was bad. Very bad.

Socialist dogma, special interest groups ruled and the economy tanked accordingly. Bad days.

I wasn't really all that interested in politics back then. However wikipedia lists his main crimes, which are increasing welfare payments, building subways on debt and legislating affirmative action for people of colour in the goverment. All governments develop baggage. I'm told he's still capable of being a radical. However I'm also told for fiscal restraint, competent government and a steady hand at the helm forget the rest.

My biggest memory is the blatant discrimination I faced applying for jobs, not incuding NDP work programs that I couldn't apply for at all.

That was a time when job requirements were based on skin colour, gender, language.

Being a white, English speaking male was one-off a crime in Bob Rae's Ontario.

Race based hiring. Oh yea. Bad days indeed.

Affirmative action is one thing. Rae practiced reverse discrimination.

Bob Rae is far from a good leader, probably one of the most hated politicians in the history of Ontario.

The Liberals would be complete and utter idiots to let this man run their party.
