Before the thread was hastily locked by USCAdad, Bart Simpson wrote:
$1:
For myself, becoming conservative was an evolution, of sorts.

I was born & raised an Irish-Catholic, liberal, Kennedy Democrat. My mother and father were devout Democrats who would've proverbially voted for Hitler so long as he ran (D).

When I entered college I immediately got into liberal politics and agitated against Ronald Reagan because he was anti-union and didn't support taxing the rich out of existence.

I'd enlisted in the Marines (my dad was a POW in Japan during WW2) and was deferred for their own reasons and they called me up in 1982. This was a huge dose of non-partisan reality for a devout left-winger.

After getting shot at Grenada it was back to college where the Nuclear Freeze movement was going strong - there were vocal, self-admitted, revolution and assassination-preaching Communists in the group and we had numerous commies visiting to encourage us. These people didn't care one bit about Russia disarming, they just wanted America to disarm.

I ran for and became the last president of the Freeze club. Upon my certification as President I took advantage of a loophole in the financial details for chartered clubs at the college and signed over the entire six-figure balance of the clubs accounts to the Dean of Social Sciences.

Thus endeth the Nuclear Freeze movement at my school.

My progression to conservative was complete by 1990 and it still took me until 1994 to register Republican - something my family never forgave me for doing.

I also did not follow the family into staggering personal debt and while my parents filed for bankruptcy in 1984, my brother did so in 2000, and my sister did so after her divorce in 2001 I've always been financially sound.

They resent me for that.

That's right, because I'm notas miserable as they are they hate me.

Fine with me.

In 2001 I stopped talking to them altogether.

So I am a conservative at great personal cost because I've been there and done that and leftism has proven itself to me to be the refuge of the loser.

Leftists, despite their empty rhetoric to the contrary, require force to implement their philosophies while the philosophy of real conservatives defies the use of force to implement their principles.

The proof is that in a conservative country you can have a leftist commune if you want to.

Try having a conservative commune/enclave in a communist/socialist country and see what happens.

This is an amazing piece of prose, but we will have to explore it tomorrow. Have to sign off for today!

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:

Neither, I'm analysing it.

To get back to Bart, well Bart, the first thing that strikes me is the following:
Bart Simpson Bart Simpson:
I was born & raised an Irish-Catholic, liberal, Kennedy Democrat. My mother and father were devout Democrats...

While we know about your progression from Democrat to Conservative quite graphically, please tell me about the effect your experience had on your religious point of view.

Through this, did you remain a Catholic, or did your religious views also change?

RUEZ RUEZ:
you're dillusional again.

Ruez, two things:

a. People who are educated and have a bath daily spell the word as 'delusional'. Dillusional is a good brand name for perhaps kosher pickles, but it won't describe a mental state.

b. I asked for 'Bart Simpson', not 'Fart Simpleton'.

:D

WDHIII, you spoke a bit too soon. Obviously Pluggy is also waiting, since I can only take one ass at at a time!

But as you can see, he is friggy, and his free hand is going all over the keyboard...

Did you expect a better spelling of 'delusional'?

Sorry my friend, when you are educated, you will realise that words have only one spelling, not good and better spellings!

My advice is, leave this board and join a good adult learning class.
