Then what in HELL are you watching Fox for? Watch CBC if you don't like Fox. Geez. Quite obviously, a lot of people have managed to flip the channel to Fox instead of bitching about CBC.

You still miss the point. This is not a freedom of speech issue, so much as an accountability in journalism issue. Not liking what comes out the mouths of idiots like Bill O'Reilly does not free them from criticism.

Criticise all you want. But limit your 'accountability' to watching something else and patronising businesses that do not support Fox.

I see that this has turned into a bitch fest. For those who support Fox News all I say is watch it! And to those that don't support it. Change the friggin' channel!

If we all believed everything that we heard on the various news channels we would be completely f*cked up!

See it's showing again, your ignorance that is. Bill O'Reilly show is not news it discusses political and social issues of the day. The news is reported every 30 minutes.

O'Reilly takes the day’s news, social issues and has guests debate on it. The left hate him cause he calls it like it is. You probably don't like to watch because he uses words like murder, rape, terrorists...... we all know the CBC watchers don’t like UN_PC words like that.

Here is a question regarding mr O'Rielly. This is a summary from a show he did.

# Factor Follow Up Segment
The CBC on "terrorism"
Guest: Antonia Zerbisias, Toronto Star

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, like the BBC, has decided that "rather than calling assailants 'terrorists' we can refer to them as bombers, hijackers, attackers or some other appropriate noun. We don't judge specific acts as 'terrorism' or people as 'terrorists.'" Toronto Star media columnist Antonia Zerbisias agreed with the CBC, "that it is much more precise to say gunmen, suicide bomber, assailant, hostage taker whatever." The Factor argued that the CBC had a left-wing view of world events. "The CBC subscribes, as many many far left people do, to the theory that one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter."

My question is why does he give a shit about a Canadian news source? Does he think that Canadian reporting actually makes a difference in the United States or is he merely bitching about a network that does not agree with the garbage he says?

Perhaps the people in Iraq who have no power or water look at the American occupiers as terrorists while the Americans look at them as Freedom fighters.

I guess it all depends on who is bombing whom.

IceOwl...We cannot stop people from watching what they want to watch. We can, however, question what they quote as the truth having the knowledge of where it came from. The American media is so polarized right now so people can hear what they want to hear with the flick of a channel.

Any sane human being must learn to question what they hear rather than take it as fact. As they say there are two sides to every story and Fox news is famous for only reporting one side of every story they do.

hwacker...Just keep believing what you want. Eventually you might get the world you want.

Personally I do not watch the CBC at all but I do have the common sense to question the news rather than take it as gospel.

IceOwl...There is absolutely no accountability in American broadcasting. It is about the ratings. Fox news appeals to those who live in fear.

There should be no accoutability.

Journalism is not a public service.

Before you can have a free society, you must have a free market of ideas.

I don't want IceOwl telling me what to watch anymore than I would want Bill O'Reilly telling me what to watch.

The point is not to change who is directing the flow of information, but to not have the flow of information directed.

It's astonishing to me that a group of people so addicted to internet use still think in such hierarchical terms in news.
