I don't believe we should hide the shameful incidents of our past but this is a slap in the face to those who served with honour.
It's even more shameful that more people know about the Somali incident portrayed than the heroism of our troops in the Medac Pocket in Bosnia.

With all the heroic deeds and individuals that have served with honour, I see no need to have portraits of an idiot like Clayton Matchee, or a portrait of Kyle Brown displayed prominently.

I hope they put this in the "Every Army Has A Few Idiots, These are Ours" section.

But seriously, folks, It really is not the place for something like this. I'm not saying don't display it , just not there. It should be a place to commemorate the brave folks who have sacrificed and suffered for the country. Its sad that its these painting that are getting the attention and not the museum as a whole.

Their reasoning WRT displaying those paintings is faulty. I don't ever recall seeing paintings of prisoners "shot while escaping" from either of the wars. Is the "Crucified Canadian" from WW 1 on display as well? Or how about a painting depicting the Japanese beheading or bayonetting prisoners for fun? That's reality. Why don't they depict that too?

This whole thing smacks of another stupid-ass REMF's misguided "politically correct" agenda.

My first reaction when I read this story, several days ago, was that I definitely want to visit this museum. However, a quick detour through the paint section of Crappy Tires will need to be completed first.

Seriously though, Liberal's paying for a museum to honour Canada's military history makes as much sense as Izzy Asper sponsoring a museum dedicated to human right's (to which Paul Martin "generously" contibuted $100 million of the public purse). Either way, truth and context are sacrificed to an agenda of historical revisionism.

I'll second that... They should have hung the leadership on location at the time.

And Kim Campbell but to be fair she was just dumped on the job. They should hang her former boss, shoot him, drive over his legs with a tank, have two strong horses tied to both arms and told to run, ear drums peirced with needles, tazered his testicles till they expolde and pissed on.
