The next time you post an opinion in an online forum or a Facebook group message board, don't be surprised if you get a rebuttal from a federal employee.

The government is looking for ways to monitor online chatter about political issues and correct what it perceives as misinformation.

I dont see how this related to 1984. :?

Do you think the government should not be allowed to defend its position on an issue?

They can do that in the House of Commons.

And how many people watch The house of commons? Even out f people like us who actually do pay attention to politics?
As long as they're not tracing my ISP and coming to my house to "educate" me I don't really have a problem with it. We should all be thinking critically about anything that anyone posts here anyways. The possibility that someone might be an"agent" doesn't really change that.

Well, if the government shows up here, we will only allow the party leaders (and they'll have to prove their identity by going to Trevor's place in Vancouver and post from his computer only) to comment on political matters. No party hacks will be allowed to spew out their own misinformation or partisan BS leaving the party leaders unaccountable for what is said cause "They have no knowledge of who is posting or what was posted". They wanna talk here, they'll have to do it themselves.... :D

Hmmm... photo op. harper raised his eyebrows, Ignatieff cocked his head and as we speak Layton is pulling out his IV and hobbling to the airport.
