ASLplease wrote: half a trillion divided by 30million......Bruce, send me a cheque in the mail, and I'll vote for you for the rest of my life lol. in fact that is the gist of my arguements. you get Canada's employment level close to Alberta's and there's a cheque in the mail for everyone, less taxes. The liberals in ottawa are looking at the arithemtic. It is simple ASLplease. Thanks for the joke.

reminds me of that asteroid movie wher bruce willis takes a team of offshore oil riggers into space to blow up an asteroid......they could have asked for a million dollars, they could have asked for just about anything.....but what did they ask for?
"....And, we dont want to have to pay taxes ever again "
it says something about their work ethic and how assured they were that working hard and using their own resources is all they needed to get by in the world.

Lemmy, did your account name come from Lemmy Bruce? I have wondered if it might be variation of Lemming, ie the result of a name that someone may have called you that you have no problem keeping. Anyway, inquiring minds want to know.
As far as 'ASLPlease', there's no real story behind it, I was looking for something random so I picked a common greeting expression from the old days of msn chat. Age Sex Location = ASL , please was just a polite way to ask.

Finance Minister Flaherty made his economic statement today, Oct. 12.
No mention in the newspapers of any cuts. If the Conservatives have some program spending they don't like now with the deficit is the time to cut it. In fact they are going to cut zip, zero, nada. Cuts are not popular and generate a lot of press. People that think Harper is a hard ass will not be detered, will call him a hard ass Conservative.
The fiscal statement predicted slower growth but growth none the less. It predicted a balanced budget in five years.
The news from the rest of the world is dark, makes you suspect how well we will do.
