I agree with you to here.

I know Harper is an extremely capable political tactician but Dion is like a normal guy and must rely on his handlers. I think his advisors tried to toughen up a leader perceived as weak and picked the wrong hill to die on. Once Dion was committed he couldn't turn back or he'd look weaker then before.

Dion can maybe be salvaged but his handlers have to go.
