Quote: Harper questions 'legitimacy' of same-sex bill CBC News Conservative Leader Stephen Harper says the government's same-sex legislation will make it through the House of Commons only because of support from the Bloc Quebecois, and that, says Harper, means the legislation "lacks legitimacy." http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national ... 50627.html
When it's time for a confidence vote, the Bloc is legitimate...
When it's time to vote on same sex marriage, the Bloc now is illegitimate...
According to Harper, the opinion of half the Quebecers doesn't count. And after, he ask himself why he is not popular in Quebec...

The bloc is only respecting its electoral program. It was clear before the beginning of the 2004 campaign that the bloc was FOR same sex marriage. I agreed with them on this, I voted for them, now they do the job. Democracy, that's it.
Actually, 3 or 4 Bloc MPs will vote against the law...

Instead of criticizing Harper, do ask how come Duceppe and his gang decide to vote in favour of the legislation !!!
It has nothing to do with protecting Quebec's interest.

This along with many other reasons for me to despise the Bloc even more.
Duceppe is a complete imbecile.

It is not Quebec's interest, it's rather what typical bloc voters (like me) want as a Canadian citizen (Quebec is still a Canadian province as far as I know...). If the Bloc had been against same sex marriage, I don't know for who I would have voted... Probably for them, but with much less conviction ("en me pincant le nez"!). Or maybe NDP or Green Party...

Not to sound ignorant but... I never heard that issue being brought to the forefront during the campaign. I am really not trying to flame here or go to a personal issue against you. The fact is that I only despise the PQ and Bloc. QuebecSpock wrote: Actually, 3 or 4 Bloc MPs will vote against the law...

I have to say that I (as a CPC supporter) am a little disappointed that Harper is playing the separatist card on this one... it really is lame. People in Quebec voted for Bloc MP's and those Canadians deserve their voice in parliament too. I abhor what the BQ platform includes, but on this one it looks like they are just representing their riding as any MP should.
Note: I saw a story on the news tonight that has 7 BQ MP's voting against the legislation (with the rest of the BQ voting for it)... so this is obviously not a whipped separatist party vote, it is a group of individual MP's (some of which just happen to be BQ) voting a certain way.

As though you should and keep doing it lol !!!
Around here, we get mostly Quebec politics. When we get Canadian politics, it's not always good
(Do you see where I am going with this?)
That's maybe why I do not listen to the French Canadian media as much. They have a certain way to make some look good (the ones they choose to mention)
