Nurses in the old days fought to get rid of the 12 hour days. They earned it. They're back to the 12 hour days because more recent nurses fought for that.

Nurses know the hours when they take the training. If they don't... well, that's their own problem.

I think the current gripe they have isn't wages so much as numbers. We don't need to pay them more (although they'll say so!" we need to hire more of them.

My biggest complaint with our medical system is that some of us have to pay for it, others don't. Here in BC we pay a monthly premium if we don't have it as a job benefit.

Which, imo, is not that much. I pay (and I guess everyone else does too...) $ 108 for my whole family per month. That is only the basic insurance.

I used to pay double for only myself in Holland, with a 500 euro deductable. So... I am quite pleased with the financial aspect ;-) I don't think the care is that much different. Waiting lists are quite common nowadays. People are getting older... Babyboomers retire...

Everyone in BC pays $108 for a family. But people in some other provinces don't pay anything.

That article is total hogwash!!

If you are are Medicaid or Medicare you have longer waits in the USA for health services than Canadians.

But if you have private health coverage at $130/MO and of course pay a co-pay of $30 every doctor visit or $3000 deductable for an operation, that is if your insurance approves the operation or just doesn't drop your ass if they see your going to become a liability.

Canada's health system with all it problems, is still a far cry better than the USA's system.

PDT_Armataz_01_37 Exactly!!!

Yeah everyone except multi millionares in Canada have the same crappy care.

Did you ever question why all of your super rich come to the US for healthcare?

And just so everyone knows this I work hard for my money and I am not ashamed that I can afford very good health insurance for me and my family and my employee's and their families. NOT ASHAMED ONE BIT anyone can make it in this country anyone. If you want to be lazy and live in the projects thats not my problem.

BC is an exception, and you only pay if you don't file a claim you made less than $28,000 net the previous year.
It's disgusting we're among the last Canadians to pay, the premium was ruled illegal back in the VanderZalm days. WAC Bennett instituted the PST as a 'Social Service Tax" and that was earmarked originally for medicare and Hospital funding.

2 things I want to see happen before I pass on. No medical premiums and no provincial sales or purchase tax on your FIRST primary residence.

EDIT: In light of the last post, I'd like to point out that the one thing I despise about American noe-cons dissing our system is their concept that money somehow entitles you to better medical service than any other citizen. Disgusting, selfish, and all too commonly the biggest argument for keeping the status quo. The second biggest BS is that a UHC plan delivers lower quality services.

The capacity to earn money and being in good health go together; a healthcare system that doesn't recognize that is simply an exploitation scheme.

Manny Manny Manny, why do you persist to ignore my comments contesting your American pride? Can't handle the possibility that I want better for America then you do?

Well it is certainly sad when a Canadian cares more about your fellow Americans than one of their own countrymen.

Yes, exactly.

It seems a bunch of Canadians care more about Americans then the most Pro-American member on the board.

Think of it like this, ManifestDaydream, you are burning 15.8%+ of the American flag.

The problem with you ManiDream is that you are just far too blind.

You are far too addicted to "The American Dream". Some people are born into situations where they can not "make it". Poor. Outcasted, and all their life's decisions made when they are too young to actually do something to fix their lives. Not everyone was raised in the rich neighbourhood like you, ManifestDaydream.

The poorer you are in America, the less help you get.

And you are pissing on them all.

We can ship them up there if you want them then we will see how much you like them.

You guys cant even treat a couple of natives properly and you want to point fingers at me. You should worry more about your own people then ours.
