Moving towards an Americanised system by introducing a EEE Senate would be stupid. Their system doesn't work. It leads to a deadlock and the deadlock leads to unrelated riders being attached to bills and that basically means that laws are being passed without representation. We don't need a system of government that depends on backroom deals just to operate.

Yes, but people who are liberal (however you wish to define it) are increasingly intolerant of viewpoints other than their own. This used to be a trait associated with the right, but it is no longer their exclusive domain.[/quote]

Damn right I'm intolerant of people who preach hate, war and homophobia. People who don't support equal rights across the board, people who mix religious rubbish with politics. Ofcourse I'm intolerant of these things. We're in the 21st century, Welcome/Bienvenue!

Here's an example:

WRONG: I'm intolerant to people who want to spread war and believe in world domination. Iraq, for example, was not legal and I won't stand for this. That war effectively murdered tens, if not hundreds of thousands of CHILDREN.

WRONG: I'm intolerant if the cons want to outright ban same-sex marriage, it goes against equal rights everyone should be entitled to. (To those religious-right/rednecks/ignorants, don't even start connecting this with incest or the like).

RIGHT: I'm not intolerant if someone believes mixing private and public healthcare. They obviously see some benefits.. that's their choices and I accept that.

THis is how conservatives think. They think that you should save money by privatising health care and anything else they can, but blow it all on tax cuts and giving it to America to build a useless misile defence that doesn't work. Realy, Conservatives in Canada are cowards, afraid of the US and willing to jump whenever they ask.

the problem with privatising everything is that it's hardly ever the most efficient way of doing something. The whole drive to priviatize everything is because they think a private company is more efficient than the government. In some cases this is true, because there is less bureaucracy, but when a public service like health care or social security is privatized, the private company's main goal is profit. and making lots of it without regard to the little guy. Then when the government has to help the little guy, they get stuck paying an arm and a leg more than if they had run the program.

I wonder how people can say that the right failed in Canada when other than a few years of Mulroney, it's really been the Liberals in power for about the last 40 years. But once again people on this site generalise and name call and generally spew venom to any differing opinion than the one they prescribe to. The bottom line on this site is that a great many of the people here are f***ing hypocrites.
On that note those of you who feel the need to vent at me for exposing you as f***ing hypocrites, you can kiss my Canadian ass!
