I thought I'd make a post similar to "how liberals think".

So the main question: How do conservatives think?

The answer is quite simple, really: they don't

They think whatever the party drills into their heads for the most part. Conservatives are almost always intolerant to disagreeing opinions. They often promote violence to instill their ideology which is why more and more Canadians are not voting for them.

Conservatives are often unable to understand something or someone that is different. They are also usually unable to see or realise anything that is more than skin-deep.

Also, the conservative religious-right are also 20x more likely to fall for Benny Hinn.

(note: this post refers to ("Conservatives") as both socially and fiscally conservative right-wingers. [aka hardcore])

Something I've noticed about them is that they're prone to stalking. They like to Google names and follow people around from thread to thread and from site to site. They often change their names and/or try to disguise themselves while doing so. It's truly bizarre behaviour

They also base everything on money...they know the price of everything and the value of nothing. I often think that they must have huge, empty holes in their lives that they are desperately trying to fill with their greed.

They like violence too. Their words are violent because their thoughts are violent. They cheer for war and when innocents die because of their love of violence they blame those innocents.

Conservatives are scum. :D

it seems to me like they don't want things to change. They want to live back in the 'idealic' 1950's when everything was just perfect. people still went to church, they respected their elders without question, and everyone was white. In that kind of world there were very few problems. Somehow, they can't seem to graps the fact that the world has changed and we are now in the 21st century where life is much more copmlicated.

Ofcourse this gives them many scape goats to blame their problems on, no one goes to church anymore, so now everyone that has an idea that challenges what the church the said, that person is immoral and will burn in hell. Now that people are losing their blue collar jobs, they can blame it on the immigrants or the stupid people that aren't part of the 'best country in the world'.

Conservative: Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.

The fifties were never really like that though. They were on TV, but in real life there were all the same problems we have today. The only thing that's really changed is that theere are more of us.

This statement is not inaccurate. I must point out, however, that if one was to substitute the word "liberal" for "conservative" the statement would be equally accurate.

You must mean if you substitute conservative, or liberal with politician.
I've also noticed Conservative like to change peoples opinions by dumbing things down. If they think the Liberals are lying they call them "fiberals". It's for simple people. Instead of arguing what the Liberals lied about "which the Liberals do" they will just call names. Another thing is the Conservatives cant remain one party. First they were the Progressive Conservatives. Then the the Reform party of Canada came, then they became the Canadian Alliance, now they merged to become Conservative party of Canada. They'll do anything to try to trick voters into voting for them.
When Mulroney stepped down, they new they wouldn't win the next election. So they thought it would look good to run a women. Even though she famously said that elections aren't the time to discuss policy, she took a bullet for Mulroney.

wasn't the whole idea of the reform party to give westerners a voice in a parliment which they beleived was dominated by ontario and quebec.

if we had a system where each region got equal say, i know there's the senate, but that's really just a joke, it would eliminate regional parties like the canadian alliance and the bloc, well not entirely the bloc. that way they could what's better for canada as a whole, instead of just looking out for their region.

I meant exactly what I wrote. Five minutes reading these forums is sufficient proof that intolerance of differing views is not limited to the right, the left, or politicians.

Well the Fiberals and the NDP staunchly oppose having an elected Senate. The reason is simple, Alberta would then have greater influence on legislative matters (As the Senate would be divided equally among Provinces unlike the house).

I agree that the senate should be democratically elected. Though I doubt it's because Alberta would have more influence. Alberta is only a small peice of the Canadian pie :)

You are half right, and half wrong. Though I'm not liberal in the sense of supporter of the Liberal party (which has become very corrupt and disorganised in the past decade), I am more liberal in social terms. I believe liberal-minded people are always and always have been very much more progressive than the cons. Decriminalisation of marijuana, anti-war, legalisation of same-sex marriage and dozens of other topics makes Canada a much more desirable place to live.

Liberal-minded people are also much more pro-democracy.

Yes, but people who are liberal (however you wish to define it) are increasingly intolerant of viewpoints other than their own. This used to be a trait associated with the right, but it is no longer their exclusive domain.

Much of that, and it is far less prevalent on the left, is a reaction to over twenty years of facing the intolerance of the right on a daily basis though, Mike. Polarisation and an almost constant barrage of anti-liberal (not pro-right) rhetoric have caused people to take a much harder line.

The left is starting to push back, in other words. Liberal isn't a dirty word, the right has had a couple of decades, arguably over a century, to prove their way works. They have failed, dismally, to do that.
