Given Michael Ignatieff’s recent troubles in the polls it appears that he is retreating to his safety zone.

Here is the October 15th media advisory from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce:
http://www.dailycommercialnews.com/nw/14668/en

....listing Michael Ignatieff among the distinguished speakers to discuss “Canada’s competitive edge and economic prosperity” on October 21st. Michael Ignatieff is scheduled for the 8:10am timeslot where the Liberal leader is scheduled to discuss, “Canada on the world stage: keys to success”.

Now, he's been replaced by Boob Rae.

And why did Iggy cancel?

Naturally, he's going back to Harvard:

Thanks to Mr. Taylor once again:

Michael has been a leading advocate for human rights,

You mean the guy who was in favor of torture in Iraq?

It is possible to be in Toronto at 8am and in Cambridge, Mass at 6pm on the same day.

Of course is it....not sure why he backed out of the Canadian engagement. Couple hours in the air.

Probably because he finally realized that the show: “Canada’s competitive edge and economic prosperity” had nothing to do with his favorite topic, himself.

It actually shows he's NOT stupid.
Why would he preach to Harper's choir?
The fuckwads at the Cdn Chamber of Commerce are tools. Sure as hell don't represent the interests of small business, workers or the public.

Blowing off a Chamber of Commerce meeting is a BAD thing? Try sitting in on one sometime. A bunch of pizza-franchisees and real-estate salesmen that think they're J.P. Fucking Morgan. I'd skip that like last-period English in highschool.

Politically? Yes.

You cannot tear Harper apart for skipping out on a UN meeting to stay IN Canada while canceling a Canadian engagement for an American one.

Bad optics. Bad politics.
