Heard about this? NDP Federal Leader Jack Layton says he'll busk on a street corner to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Lewis is a former NDP head too. Great little event going on here though. A Dare to Remember has all sorts of Canadian celebs raising money and performing "dares" for Africa.

Here's the Layton article.

His recent experience as one of Three Stooges should stand him in good stead. He also shows a high degree of arrogance in the House of Commons. Maybe he could display that on a street corner too.

It's a fundraiser for AIDS so it's not such a dumb move by Jack to go busking in his own Toronto riding. It's not like he's going to lose any credability.
Maybe Hedy Fry could join in, although that would probably kill any donations.

Musicians or street performers begging for money.
It's a regular career in some Canadian cities.

He's a performer, like most pols. He'll put on a decent show - and he'll invite the press.

And that's a Martin. That instrument is worth >$10K; not really a "man of the people" instrument. He needs a Canadian-made $1K Garrison, like Alex Lifeson played on the 'Snakes and Arrows' tour.

Woah, it's been confirmed! He's going to busk on the corner of Danforth and Logan (his riding) from 3-5 pm on Saturday Oct 24th. More here.
