I can see both sides. On one hand it does seem a little bit like we are being told what we can and can not see when the sponsors say pull the movie or we pull our money. On the other hand, they don’t want there product associated with anything negative like that.

For example after 911 I listened to CFRB 1010 (a Toronto news talk radio station) how many commercials do you think they played in the first 3 days after the attacks... you got it. It was commercial free programming for 3 days.

"thousands dead, America under attack.... buy Tide" :) I don’t think so.

While I disagree, I understand 100%.

if this movie was an important artistic piece then I'm sure they'd find some independent theatre willing to screen it but looks like it really is just an attempt to exploit the rape and murder of some teenage girls for commercial gain.
Sponsors have every right not to want to associate themseleves with whatever may tarnish their image, that's not censorship

Have you seen the movie Monster or Helter Skelter or how about a movie about the Hitler's final solution. I have and I will see this film as well.

I agree the sponsers should not have to associate themselves with this film and they should be politley asked to leave but the sponser reaction is the precise reason this film will not be shown. I don't blame them I blame the head of the film festival for caving to corperate pressure.

Ah yes but I'd argue Monster and Helter Skelter were important because they dealt with issues that hadn't really been on screen before ie, a female serial killer and the Manson family. I can't see how this movie will have anything new or significant to say but make sure to post your review when you do see it.

You just completey lost the argument. Nice logic, well it's been sort of done before so lets ban it.

So I guess the second movie among hundreds about the holocaust were unneccessary.

As far as the review goes, I will tell you how it is, good or bad but it is my choice to see it not yours or any other body be it government or corperate.

Is this Dalton McGuinty?

Would you like a list of other movies made about serial killers?

Hey tell me where I said it should be banned, I don't like it and I won't watch it, if you want to go see it that's your prerogative but calling this censorship is ridiculous. The sponsors, Air Canada principally didn't want to be associated show me the law where it says corporate sponsors must support things that may hurt their business. If this was the Govt pulling out you'd have a point about the censorship.

censor- n. official authorized to surpress or expurgate books, films, news, etc., on grounds of obscenity, threat to security, etc

definition from the Oxford Dictionary of Current English c.1998

I feel that this movie should be released in theaters. When theater owners realize that they are losing money because no one is attending the showing of this particular film, they will remove it, hopefully within a few days. Then, maybe we can all get back to living again. This movie will be released, people in Canada have the privilage of deciding for themselves whether or not to go to see this film. Theater managers have the right not to show movies in their theaters. This is not CENSORSHIP.

Before I begin, let me state for the record that I am against censorship. That being said, if I am in charge of a film festival don't I have the perogative to show what films I WANT to show?
I wonder which version of Karla appears in this movie? The "I'm a victim" Karla or the "I'm a homicidal, crazy bitch, murderer" Karla?
Maybe me and Karla could go see it together!

I believe there should be no censorship but respect must be given to the victims.Karla and Paul should not make any profits or benefit whatsoever. Though no amount of money in the world will not bring back the victims, the film proceeds must go to compensate the victims and their families and Victims' groups.Victim rights should always be a primary concern.

It's crap.
Sensational, fear mongering crap, but I don't think it's the gov's job to regulate stupidity. If the backers who supply the money had any morals, they would never have funded this and it would have died as some moron's bad idea.
I hate 90% of what hollywood pumps out but I don't want them to stop. Hell, where's the sequel to stealth or dukes of hazard?
