what are you saying? that cops are worried about a jaywalker in a suitsuit that might be hiding a long rifle up his ass? Nope, not even cops are that paranoid.

Talk to the police who value it.

Don't you read what I write ?
I told you TWO times: IT WAS ALREADY LIKE THAT. WE HAD TO REGISTER AND GET A PERMIT TO BUY A GUN. You are being childish here. We COULD NOT walk with a gun in the street. YOU COULD NOT ride with a pistol except to get to the shooting range. YOU COULD NOT buy automatic rifles. IT WAS ALREADY like that.

I don't want to change that: I say the gun registry is useless and the money would be better spent in another way to ACTUALLY prevent crime.

The registry is a tool to investigate crimes and its cost is peanuts. We could take whatever money you want to spend and spend it on health care because I doubt it will actually prevent crime either.

It's like saying: We need to protect ducks so we will build duck houses every where instead of saving their environment. Or wanting to prevent peanuts reaction in restaurant but instead of telling restaurants to be cleaner, putting warning on peanut bags.

Canadian Firearms Registry On-line
• Law enforcement officers have queried the Canadian Firearms Registry On-line over
8.4 million times since it was launched on December 1, 1998. In 2008, it is used in
average 8,603 times each day
• More than 6,190 affidavits have been provided by the Canadian Firearms Registry to
support the prosecution of firearms-related crime and court proceedings. The
Canadian Firearms Registry prepared 2,400 affidavits in 2005.

If the police are finding value behind it then why deprive them of it?

The registry ! damn... The registry is useless and does not prevent crime ! Why keep it ?
Also, it's the concept: you are guilty until proven innocent and you can get arrested if you forget to renew the registration or something like that. That's what I'm bitching about.

has speed limits ever led to genocide? how about car registration? swimming pools?

if you want to include all guns, then lets include all industrial vehicles, bicycles, roller blades, white water rafts, power sports......oh yes, lets not forget the drunk drivers!

No it isn't. Its like saying any responsible gun owner is responsible for registering their guns. Now who is being childish? Its nothing but petulance and the cry of "big government" behind this.

The same government that has the right to enforce speed laws is the same government that has the right to tell people that you have to register your firearm. They are also the same government that says you must have a license also.

How is registering any different then demanding a license. Why require a license at all then if you are against government intrusion?

And, why can't the leader of LUFA turn himself in and demand his day in court?

Ok I give up...
You keep using the same argument about registration/license and it's the THIRD time I tell you it was like that before the registry...

ONCE AGAIN, the registry is being used to prosecute criminals and thereby preventing future crimes. Its being used by police to investigate crimes. Requiring a registered firearm is not like being guilty until proven innocent any more then require a license to drive is like being called a bad driver until you prove you are a good driver.
