stratos stratos:
Xerxes where do I not get the humour. I even pointed out that these dinners are a time to crack jokes. I then give an example that the left took a joke that implied R. Limbaugh was a racist and have sense continued to call him one.
Who seems not to understand a joke from facts.
... so you also suspect that Obama is
actually the son of Mustafa, and when he was born, elephants, giraffes and antelope bowed in the presence of his newborn form; that of a lion cub, smeared with red juice, held up by a sentient monkey priest? Or entertain the possibility? Because that came up in one of his previous speeches.
- Hey kid, one day, you can be president.
- Of everything the light touches!
No, Mustafa is not Muslim, nor is that a turban on his head. It's his mane. Because he's a lion.
He also pointed out that Bachmann is Canadian. Who knew?
- Then I found my husband in West Vancouver, eh!
I'd pay special attention to 1:20 through the end. The fact that he had to point out, in his 2011 speech, that it was indeed a joke, was supposed to be a joke, but for you, I think that fact that he had to point out a joke should make a poignant point. The aim of the speech is not to tell people about himself, but to joke around up at the front. It's why comedians speak every year.
Trust me, this is not how it happened:
- Dad, I'll avenge you by turning America into a Sharia-law using socialist state!
As a more serious side point, all these dinners are made for presidents to be funny. I remember laughing at Bush's, which were pretty hilarious.
Bush was not going to make a band, nor did he tell his dog he should be a senator with those eyebrows. Nor did his insinuation that Cheney was holding his dick while looking through the peephole "cover" for Cheney's non-existant homosexuality (4:55). Nothing should be taken seriously, or as an affront. It's for levity. And draining levity from this event is one of the worst things we can do, especially in such a charged, polarized political environment, where levity and joy is such a rare thing. Leave the dinner be. It means nothing. Let people enjoy at least one moment with their politicians. You should always celebrate during a night for celebration.
