It's of interest that if you write a good letter to your MP you are likely to get a letter back. The arithmetic is there is 308 MPs with correspondance assistants and secretaries and so possibly 1000 people on Parliament Hill working on communication. This is major resources. The point is the MPs know, all the leaders have to do is communicate with the back bench. We suspect Harper and Ignatieff don't, rather they rely on their central office. Ignatieff spent the summer touring Canada while all along he could just talked to his MPs. Presently Harper has his MPs "fanning out" across the country to test the waters for the austere Budget 2011, the coming cuts. Parliament has a 1000 people working on communication, there's nothing like it in the country - it's a resource waiting to be employed.
