I decoded the Pension Plan discussions that we're going on last fall. The federal government is reviewing how pensions are working with an eye to making them cover more people. The Ontario NDP have responded by saying there should be a compulsory government plan which people would contribute several thousand a year to.

I figured out the problem is people with company pension plans now may not collect because employment is so unstable. That's one. The other one is only a few workers that don't have pension plans have the ability to save significantly and, yes, they need a government pension plan. Actually you need a portable pension plan run by the banks or somebody. But general pension plan expansion, it's not in the cards.
