1997, to a US Conservative think tank, from CTV's website. If you don't like EI, Health Care, and want to see abortion criminalized and same sex marriage abolished...then probably not scary at all.

Aah during his nutty ass Alliance days. Hopefully he doesnt hate his country as much as he used to.

What makes you think he would hate Canada and then run for the leadership of it?

I don't think Harper has ever "hated" Canada...I just think he wants to re-shape it into a more Conservative and Christian nation.

I think EI is important, as is a functional health care system, and I don't care for abortion but I'm not crazy about making it illegal, and yet these quotes don't scare me in the least. In fact I can't wait to vote for Steven Harper again.

Because you believe he had moderated his positions and would act in a way consistent with a person that thought EI was important, and didnt want to criminalize abortion...or because you're a glutton for punishment.

That's just an old line from a song, instead of "we get the choice" its "democracy gives us the choice"

I think Kenmore came back from Cuba and changed his name.

This is why Harper doesn't talk about being the member of an Evangelical Christian Church, or make speeches with lines like this anymore. Its not that his belief system has radically changed, but he knows politics and that this stuff won't fly east of Manitoba.

Because he wanted to overhaul it and make it more to his liking...Pretty simple actually.

Oooo song lyrics about choice!
Stop! Take some time to think, figure out what’s important to you.
Stop! Take some time to think, figure out what’s important to you.
Stop! Take some time to think, figure out what’s important to you.
You’ve got to make a serious decision.

Don't really care about Mulroney, Chretien, Clark, Manning, Martin quotes...they're not in politics anymore. Iggy and Harper are really the only 2 that count now.

I dunno man. Id say that someone who spoke with such disdain for a countries institutions(and by extension the majority of the people that support them) didnt like the country very much...yet...yes till he changes to his liking.

But yes, perhaps "hate" is too strong.
