There is no difference and obomba will be no different than his predecessor, just possibly a little less outwardly dense, other than that it will be business as usual. I would prefer to see someone as PM who at least exudes a slight sense of compassion towards people, vs. a frikkin robot.

The Beer and Popcorn party is more to your liking.

There's compassion

Well, I would challenge anyone living elsewhere than mommies basement to get by on ei these days. I think it maxes out at around 210 per week. And if you dont find work after about 48 you get to live on the street.

No it doesn't max out at 210 a week. Mine would have run almost a year if I hadn't found a job. I don't live in my moms basement, granted I only pay 550 rent in PG. I also made all my car payments as well.

EI is just there to give you a small influx of cash to take care of the bare necessities while you are looking for work. If you feel you are going to be out of work for a long time im sure there are lots of places that one can find employment to help make ends meet until a more suitable job comes along.

Plus, personal savings also helps in these times as well. Its called saving for a rainy day. There are two many people these days that think they should be able to live off of EI when thats not it's purpose.

I'll agree with you, what is out there for people laid off in manufacturing who are now looking at a very prolonged recession/depression and have mortgages and kids and all that? More important, does Harper care - NO

just more BS and partisan crap.

You bitch about the EI program it was the LIBERALS who changed it to what it is now.

And I will place money that the upcoming budget includes income tax cuts.

OOO the evil harper!! give it a rest

That's the key, it's called personal responsibility. I had about 8k in the bank when I lost my job so I knew that if EI ran out I could still make it for awhile. I was also prepared to move back to Alberta to find work. You can't just sit on EI and expect the world to cater to you.

Don't forget about Iraq and Iggy.

Lets not forget that if Harper had been in charge in '03, we would be waist deep in Iraq right now. Iggy wasnt even in the country at that time and regardless, he could do a better job from the moon than harper warming a chair in the house.

not at all, on the contrary. I merely point this out as many "liberals" have always enjoyed bashing the US, and it's politicians. I think it is a true bought of irony that the new liberal leader is an American.

Have you noticed how 'quiet' everyone is about that? Can u imagine the noise they would be making if a conservative leader was an American?

Look at the fuss over Dion being a French citizen..

So I find it highly hypocritical for the left, and the liberals in particular to be so quiet now.

And those quotes are scary how. They really are what I would expect to hear from a previous reform party member.

Not that I agree with all of them but what were you expecting?

Bush is a neocon right winger, harper the same with idologue on the end. They are twins separated at birth. Harper is american in the same sense as bush, right wing conservative and pro corporate fascism to the core. And, I will say it once more, Harper as PM in '03 would have had us waist deep in Iraq today.

You've just spun a bunch of BS without explaining how Harper is up W's ass or he's American. Try again.

Are you denying we would have troops on the ground in Iraq today if Harper had been pm?
