Read the thread, I dont feel like repeating myself for your purusing pleasure. I have read the thread. So far, all I see is the usual bigotted assholery out in full force. This hasn't been a discussion of facts or reason, it's been a bunch of rabblers going rabble-rabble-rabble about something they probably don't even have frequent contact with.

We will never know if they chose to, because we are not allowed to talk to them and ask. I have had many talks with muslim women, over the why and what of wearing a headscarf or a burqa... Their comments were all unanimous. A headscarf is a personal choice, to let Allah know they submit to him, that they chose their faith in him. A burqa is not a free choice. No woman in her right mind would choose to be oppressed like that. A choice is not a choice? Do you read your own posts?

Do you know the difference between a headscarf and a burqa?

If I show up half naked on the streets, I will be arrested (and ridiculed, and secretely admired... ) Workplaces have a dress code. That's the rules. There is no law against wearing a burqa if you choose to, and it would be pretty silly to have such a law.

If Muslims can't live in my Canada, neither can biggotted, asshole Christians who think Muslims shouldn't live in Canada because of how they want to dress. It's a peice of fucking clothing. There are far worse things we need to worry about. You are talking about ALL muslims now. Not all muslims wear burqa's. So what? You can't pick and choose what you tell other people to do. If you're going to talk about how we should subjugate religious people to ridiculous laws, then let's subjugate all religious people to ridiculous laws. Starting with morons who think Islam is out to get them. They should be forced to wear clown suits all of the time, and have eggs and rotten vegetables thrown at them if they speak in public.

Why shouldn't someone be able to wear one to work if they choose to?

A headscarf is only used as an adornment, at most completely covering up a minor 'identifier' of a person should a witness description be required for whatever reason. A burka, on the other hand covers up most 'major identifiers' making a 'witness description' impossible. That is actually why many male terrorists dress as women wearing burkas rather than just putting on a 'headscarf' to carry out acts of terrorism!

Is "wearing masks in public" still a Criminal Code offence? I haven't got a copy at my cottage to check.

I'll probably have a chance to check it myself before then, but thanks for your help.
