Who the proletariat is? I work as an auto parts courier and rub shoulders with them daily.
Before Christmas "P" got fired because he couldn't control himself. He was always yelling at the customers, the fellow employers and the bosses. One day they told him to apolgize to a customer so he simply up and left. The other workers were relieved. Oficially "P" has grade eight but in reality it's probably grade six at best.
Before that it is was "B". "B" smelled so bad that people didn't want to work with him. One day he cut a car off while driving the company pickup truck and almost killed himself. They cut him off at that point. "B's"opinion was an interest in politics was similar to mental illness.
Then there is "M". They made "M" a supervisor at one point ( that's businesses being innovative). He tried to punch out one of his staff. "M" has three children and his girl friend has two but all five have been taken away by the grandparents. Between "M" and his girlfriend they have produced five orphans.
Then there is "V". "V" is a Jamacan immigrant and very religious. However he thinks he is poor because Jewish bankers control the world economy.
Then there is “C”. “C” talks to himself all the time. He talks continuously. At first this is off putting but then people adjust, just accept it. The customers and vendors at work got used to this. Unfortunately “C” then goes further and starts yelling at and threatening the customers and vendors. So he is gone. While he does have this personality problem he is actually fairly intelligent and some of his comments are funny. For example he said he can explain the constant talking. He says "when the talking stops the bombs start dropping". I suppose it's funny.
This idea that the worker should be King, be comfortable, is a bit far fetched. I'm average myself and I can tell you from personal experience that is not that good. At the bottom there are problems and fortunately they are getting by at this time in Canada. God Bless them and keep them.

Well Bruce, the tics of the elite are just as bad, but they have found better ways of hiding so they are socially and thus financially more successful. Psychopathy lies on a spectrum, for instance, and many business leaders have been tested pretty high in that trait - it's what makes them successful. Narcissism is very prevalent there too, and of course in the entertainment industry. Peter Pocklington would stand in front of his mirror and repeat "I am God." If some of those people told you what they really believe, they put your Jamaican co-worker to shame.
But do you really think the guys you mentioned are acting this way because they choose to? It's not really working out for them, is it? Are we better off as a society saying fuck them if they can't make it, let em sleep in the gutter, or will it benefit all of us to give them a hand or two?

No, your right the tics of the elite would be bad as well.
The company I work with is fairly tolerant and will employee people one step ahead of disability. If they don't make with us that is the alternative.

Holy Shite, if that's the quality of the people in your work place, I think you should be applying for the CEO position.
You are right though, to many employees seem to have this attitude that the world owes them a living, and it comes as a great shock when their employer reads them their horoscope for being an incompetent twit and cans their pathetic ass.
Employers aren't responsible for their employees personal lives and when these problems start interfering with productivity at work it's time to let the person go. It's be nice if everyone could have and keep any job they wanted, but some people, like just about everyone you've mentioned don't fit in and since buisness isn't a freakin charity your boss would be better off showing them the door.

Well, at the bottom of the work place you have people that are marginal. You want them to work as you don't want to have to pay them disability. It's not their fault exactly, they really can't control themselves. I tell this story as it illustrates this fact of life with just my own limited information.

Yep, the employer should not have to lose money to employ people who can't do the job. But the employer, and everybody else, should pay taxes that go to helping people who are struggling. As Bruce says, it's much better for society to have people employed than on welfare, disability, what have you. Some people need help here, and with a hand up can make a contribution. In the end it will save us money, because unless you want to start up the ovens, those people just don't go away. They come to Vancouver instead and cause problems.

It'd be nice if everyone with a handicap could find a job, that suited them and payed taxes rather than having to live off assistance, but we don't live in a perrfect world and the employer shouldn't have to employ people who by their actions or inaction cost him money.
It reminds me of a story I saw on Detroit Television years ago. They interviewed the owner of a factory that was going out of business. When they asked him why, he replied wryly, Affirmative Action. Apparently the Government had made him hire a large number of minorities, and handicapped, who couldn't or wouldn't do the jobs required of them, which over a number of years having financial losses, cost this gentleman his business.
So it begs the question, should the Goverment get involved the hiring practices of private businesses? I think not, but then again, I've been accused of still living in the sixties.
