Why do you have to be such a negative dork? Just answer the question! Christ on a bike do you talk like that to your friends like that? I doubt you have any when you politicize everything like that. Geez what a soul sucking bore you are.

Neither is the current GG (She's from Hong Kong) and it wasn't that long ago that they were all British Lords. Any Canadian citizen should be eligible for the position. Even thought the CBC does seem to be getting more than their fair share. They should have offered it to Landry, Parizeau(a self admitted anglophile), Bouchard or Duceppe. Wouldn't that have been a hoot? 8O ROTFL

An immigrant is not Canadian. You must be born here to be a Canadian. That would be the same as me going to Germany and saying I was a German despite the fact that I had not been raised with German influences et cetera. An immigrant cannot be a true member of the country they immigrate to because of a lack of commonality in their personal history. A born and raised Canadian understands our humour, immigrants do not but their children often do. And if not their immediate children, then their children's children. You get the idea.

A people is defined by their common heritage. A recent immigrant is not a member of the new country because of that lack of history. Their children, born and raised in that environment, can be considered members of that country/people.

She's hardly a recent immigrant; she moved here when she was 11 (37 years ago or so).
