Thus came the Barons war or Civil war which took place after he renounced it. Pope Innocent III also did. John died in the civil war and Henry III reissued it. King John was a failure in the eyes of England so he wasn't a very popular King. The big deal about the Magna Carta is that it limited absolute monarchy in England whereas in France the Ancien Regime continued to hold absolute power. Magna Carta became English law with some revisions along the way and when you look at it, England was more or less peaceful in the Middle Ages where in Europe, revolutions broke out and Feudalism was still prevalent.
