Jabberwalker Jabberwalker:

Mine too. But I'd like to finish my work early enough to nap before making Sunday dinner, just once.

Headstrong Headstrong:
These people are well compensated and many know what long hours come from being a political staffer. They signed on for it.

It's your opinion based on your knowledge which is proving to be limited.
What exactly do you think they signed up for?

Jabberwalker Jabberwalker:
8 hours play ......

You must be single.

Slap and tickle time is included in the 8 hours of play.

Even if it only takes 5 or 10 minutes.

He thinks they signed up for working all day if required, simply because they are on salary.

There is no standardization of pay between MP's or staffers for that matter. But here is what the NDP pay. I'll point out that the article this topic is on is in regards to PMO staffers, they probably make a bit more. There is a maximum of $80,900.
I'll also point out that labour laws don't apply to staffers, there are no mandatory breaks. That aside, of course one should be compensated for ones work, and equally compensated for overtime or working on personal time but none of that was established in this case. And labour laws should apply, you can't treat workers like shit, which was not established in this topic.

As of this year, level one NDP staffers make a minimum of $50,030 and a maximum of $61,242. Level two staffers, who have specialized backgrounds like communications, make a minimum of $57,366, while level three staffers, who play coordinating caucus roles (like an issues manager), make a minimum of $61,685; each level has a maximum annual salary of $63,318. NDP staffers also receive scheduled annual raises.

check it out.
