This is just something the Libranos are doing in order to catch up with new technology. It has been open source for years that the CSE operates on a black budget answering only to the PM/Os Signals Intelligence staff as computers routed through the TELCOs monitor sound prints.
The complete disintegration of Canadian personal liberties are being eroded at an incredible rate and I don’t see that even Harper can stop the lieberal bureaucratic induced hemorrhaging.
It is a disgrace to our veterans.
Your problem here Tory_canuck, is that you picked a source (National Post) that even though it is directly connected to the Libranos through the Asper clan, will still have no credibility in the eyes of the lefties. If it was in the Globe/Star/CBC they might only meekly refute it or even expound the benefits depending on what they are told to do.

Thats frightening... This has nothing to do with law enforcement it has to do with the police wanting near unlimited power to spy on innocent citizens.
Were they legitimately concerned with catching criminals they would have judicial oversight, and more limited powers.
The western standard is another source. It will be hard for the feds to try and intercept magazines printed and sold in news stands and convenience store.Unless of course Anne McClellen or Paul Martin walk into the local 7-eleven, which I doubt because they have chauffers and can't be bothereed to get off their lazy asses and do things themselves.

This demonstrates how far the libs will go to stay in power.
I have read George Orwell's book, nineteen eighty-four, which mainly talked about how government highly eavedrops on its' citizens' daily lives. This Big Brother is watching you persona is one that depicts how totalitarian a government is.The liberals are becoming more totalitarian everyday and this new legislation is just the tip of the iceberg.Corruption, vote buying, the gun registry, and the persecution of religious freedoms with C-38 (SSM) are other examples of a liberal totalitarian dictatorship. If people in Ontario voted for Stephen Harper and the Conservatives, we would not be in this mess. The liberals already control the media as well with the Liberal CBC propaganda machine.Looks like totalitarianism exists in the CDN Gov't.I better not say anymore, cause Big Brother is probably watching and a person who opposes the Liberal oligarchy, can find themselves in real trouble.Communism in Canada.

Wow, I never knew some people were so paranoid.
Do you know what communism means? This is NOT communism.

It's in my nature not to trust authority, and it is quite justified, all throughout history those who have restricted freedoms, have never done so to the benefit of the people, only to, instead, further their power. And once these people have power they have used it for the worst atrocities in the history of mankind.
as Ben Franklin said "Those who would sacrifice essential liberties for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." It may be extreme and it may be unyielding, but anything less has led us down the slippery slope to disaster.

No, you're right its not communism, it is merely a trait of communism, one shared by facism and other authoritarian govt. forms.

It's not even a trait of communism. There is no part of any communist political theory which says people must be monitored. Also, fascism and communism are far from being the same thing.
Good points. True Communism is anarchic and there is no central power to monitor anything or anyone - it is a Utopian ideal that conflicts with human nature and every attempt to attain it, so far, has led to despotism.
It is just the abuse of and consolidation of power.
It is an act of evil, at its heart, and it should be stopped.
